German Sparkassenstiftung

    Shortly Explained

Members

Well over half of all German Sparkassen and regional banks (Landesbanken), regional associations and other affiliated partners are members of German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK). Our members form the backbone of our organisation. They not only provide funding but also help shape the content of our work. As a strong advocate of transfers and practice-oriented Sparkassen-driven solutions, DSIK draws on the extensive competence and expertise of its member organisations. This requires the Sparkassen to release highly qualified staff members from their regular duties for assignments in our projects. Alternatively, individual member organisations also engage in a direct partnership with a project and actively work with us on its implementation. This constitutes the quintessential core of our activities.

Donor organisations

For more than 200 years now, German Sparkassen have been demonstrating that financial inclusion of all population groups can be achieved successfully and sustainably, when organised efficiently and implemented professionally. German Sparkassenstiftung conveys these core factors of success to its partners in their respective project countries. Meanwhile, German Sparkassenstiftung has executed far more than 200 long-term projects in some 80 countries across the globe.

All of these projects are financed from interest revenues on German Sparkassenstiftung’s equity capital, by donations from the Sparkassen Finance Group and, to a large extent, from donor organisations, some of which are at the same time project partners (projects financed by partner institutions).

The most important donor organisation of German Sparkassenstiftung Uzbekistan is the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Staff

More than 320 employees are engaged in German Sparkassenstiftung’s project work around the globe. Among them are 40 employees based in Bonn who coordinate the international project activities. At the Tashkent office of German Sparkassenstiftung Uzbekistan, seven people are actively engaged in the project work.
